En Cards (“the app”) is developed by Chingwei Chen. Our principle is simple: your cards stay with you. The app needs no account and never sends your cards or personal data to our servers — we don’t run any.
We collect no data
The app contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party SDKs. We can’t see your cards, contacts, location or usage.
Where your data lives
On your device: card images, recognized fields, notes and timelines are stored on your device. Text recognition and Apple Intelligence run on your device.
Your iCloud (optional): with iCloud Sync on, your data is stored in your own private iCloud database, managed by Apple. We can’t access it. You can turn it off in the app’s Settings.
Files you export: backups, CSV and vCard files leave the app only when you choose to share or save them.
How permissions are used
Camera: scanning cards and taking attachment photos.
Photos: only the photos you pick are read.
Contacts: used only when you add a card to Contacts or choose a contacts account. The app never reads or uploads your contacts.
Location: records where you met when you scan a card, stored only with that card. Placing addresses on the map uses Apple Maps.
Calendar: requested when you first open the app. If you allow it, the name of your current event is used as “Where you met”, and you’re reminded before meetings with people from your cards. The app works without it, and you can allow it later or turn off pre-meeting reminders in the app’s Settings. Your calendar is read only on your device and never uploaded.
Microphone & Speech Recognition: dictating notes. Transcribed on device when supported; on devices without on-device recognition, audio may be processed by Apple’s speech service.
Notifications: follow-up, birthday and pre-meeting reminders, all scheduled on your device.
Face ID: handled by iOS; the app never receives biometric data.
Caller ID: when you turn on Caller ID, phone numbers and names from your cards are given to iOS call identification and stay on this iPhone.
Crash reports
If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in iPhone Settings, Apple may provide us anonymous crash reports so we can fix bugs.
Deleting your data
Delete a card in the app to remove it. Deleting the app removes all data on the device. Data in iCloud can be deleted in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Children
The app isn’t directed to children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect their data.
