RateSnap is developed by Chingwei Chen. RateSnap does not collect any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDK.
What the app downloads
RateSnap downloads exchange rates from public services: Coinbase (api.coinbase.com), ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) and the fawazahmed0 currency-api, served by jsDelivr and Cloudflare Pages. These requests contain nothing about you. Like any website, those services can see the IP address a request comes from.
Data on your device
Your currency pair, the last amount, recent currencies, settings and downloaded rates are stored only on your device.
With Apple Watch, the currency pair and amount are synced directly between your iPhone and Apple Watch.
Permissions
Camera: used only for price scanning. Text is recognized on your device with Apple's Live Text. Images are not saved or sent anywhere.
App Store region: on first launch, RateSnap reads your App Store country on your device to choose a default currency. It is not sent anywhere.
Siri and Shortcuts: voice requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports to fix bugs.
Children
RateSnap does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
